Government Grants to Boost Queensland’s Manufacturing Sector

Looking for a grant to boost your manufacturing operations?

To support and enhance the capabilities of local manufacturers, the Queensland Government has implemented various grants and programs. Among these, the Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Grant Program, Manufacturing Hubs Grant Program and the Industry Growth Program stand out as key initiatives designed to promote innovation, sustainability, and growth within the manufacturing sector.

Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Grant Program:

The Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Grant Program is a targeted initiative aimed at helping Queensland manufacturers reduce their energy consumption and enhance their overall efficiency. Recognising the importance of sustainability in today’s business landscape, this program provides financial support to manufacturers looking to invest in energy-efficient technologies and practices.

Eligible Queensland-based manufacturers can apply for matched grant funding of between $5,000 and $25,000 to buy equipment or introduce processes that will reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Manufacturing Hubs Grant Program

The Manufacturing Hub Grant Program provides funding between $10,000 and $500,000 for manufacturers to become more productive, build advanced manufacturing capabilities and create the jobs of the future.

Eligible businesses are Queensland-based manufacturers located in the Cairns, Townsville, Central Queensland, Mackay and Gold Coast SA4 regions. Eligible businesses should also be registered for GST, hold an active Australian Business Number, employ between 5 and 200 employees and be able to contribute at least 50% of the eligible project costs.

Industry Growth Program:

The Industry Growth Program is another significant initiative by the Australia Government, which supports innovative small and medium enterprises to commercialise and grow their business. Participating businesses will have access to Advisory Services to help them overcome significant challenges that may be associated with their projects.

The program encourages innovation by supporting research and development projects that enhance a manufacturer’s product offerings or processes. Collaboration with research institutions and other businesses is also promoted to stimulate knowledge-sharing and industry-wide advancements.

One avenue that manufacturers are taking advantage of manufacturing grants for, is to invest in cloud software. This strategic move not only streamlines operations but also positions companies for sustained growth and improved competitiveness.
