Company Overview
Max Door Solutions is one of seven companies in the BX Bunka Australia group, which specialise in the manufacture and supply of garage doors, industrial roller shutters, and high-speed doors for both residential and commercial construction. Acquired in 2022, Max Door Solutions was the 2nd commercial door business to join the BX Commercial Division, which now includes ARCO, Sprint Roller Shutters, and Retrotech Door Services.
“Each of these businesses came from a family-owned background with different levels of digital operating systems,” explains Paul Garrett, Executive General Manager – Commercial at BX Bunka Australia. “Our vision was to unify them under one integrated digital platform.”

The Challenge
Before the transformation, Max Door Solutions operated on Financial Force and a plethora of spreadsheets. The business faced several operational hurdles including:
- Lack of centralised access to job and technical information
- Disorganised and disconnected document storage
- Manual, paper-based approval and review processes
- Outdated and error-prone pricing due to reliance on spreadsheets
- Inaccurate costing from infrequent updates on material costs
- Poor pricing decisions leading to lost margins
Max Door Solutions was a modern business being held back by legacy tools. They needed a platform that could provide structure, visibility, and speed across their operations.
The Solution
Max Door Solutions selected MYOB Acumatica as the unified ERP platform with the support of Momentum Software Solutions, and DriveWorks as the product configurator with support from Central Innovation. The goal was to digitise and standardise operations across all four commercial businesses.
“The main change in thinking when designing the future state in our business was not to only look inside, what can the new platform do for us? We flipped this to be what can the platform do for us AND our customers”. Paul Garrett emphasizes.
“How can our customers benefit if we do this? We focused on the pain points. Most consumers in general don’t like waiting for quotes, how do we address this? We give them full control of this process but ensure we integrate it into our system to have visibility and oversight, DriveWorks in combination with MYOB Acumatica gave us this opportunity!”

Manufacturing Process Reimagined
BX Bunka Australia Group’s products are highly customized, with specifications varying by wind rating, speed, thermal, acoustic needs, and security requirements. Prior to the implementation of MYOB Acumatica and DriveWorks, the entire manufacturing process was managed manually by experienced staff using paper-based production lists via Excel.
“Excel housed the BOM’s for our products and was not linked to any other functional area of the business which resulted in constant examples of disconnect between sales, operations, admin and logistics. Information was only obtained and communicated between departments via email and face to face communication” says Paul Garrett.
With MYOB Acumatica and DriveWorks:
- Sales teams configure products using rules-based logic in DriveWorks.
- BOMs are automatically generated and linked to real-time inventory costs.
- Technical drawings are auto-created and stored in a central PDM vault.
- Engineers are freed to focus on R&D and process innovation.

Key Benefits Realised
- Accurate BOMs and Costing: Product rules prevent out-of-spec configurations and ensure pricing precision.
- Seamless Data Flow: Sales configurations feed directly into MYOB Acumatica manufacturing and inventory systems.
- Automated Documentation: Technical drawings are generated instantly, reducing engineering workload.
- Customer Empowerment: Resellers and distributors can conduct the CPQ process themselves via a DriveWorks portal, generating real-time quotes—an industry-first in Australia.
“No other commercial door business in Australia offers this level of configurability and transparency to its partners,” Paul Garrett notes proudly.
Impact on Manufacturing
- Time Savings: Production sheets are auto-generated, eliminating 3–4 hours of manual work daily.
- Inventory Visibility: Real-time depletion updates help procurement teams plan proactively.
- Cost Control: Accurate BOMs and pricing protect margins and reduce errors.
“We’ve gone from reactive to proactive,” says Paul Garrett. “Our teams can now focus on value adding tasks such as new product development, research & development and operational process improvement”.

Looking Ahead
The next phase is to launch the DriveWorks portal externally, allowing partners to complete the CPQ process independently. Quotes will sync directly into MYOB Acumatica as opportunities, providing full visibility and eliminating delays in the RFQ process.
“We believe that this feature is extremely beneficial for our partners and makes the RFQ process redundant overnight!” Paul Garrett explains.
Paul also acknowledges “The input & guidance from the expert team at Central Innovation where crucial in the overall success of this project in terms of delivering seamless integration between MYOB Acumatica, Driveworks and our internal business processes”
BX Bunka Australia Group’s transformation is a testament to what’s possible when software is aligned with both operational needs and customer experience.
